Delivery from SpenCertified

At SpenCertified, we take the packaging and preparing of your item very seriously. We want to ensure as best we can that the item will be working when you remove it from the package.

Before packaging any item, we test it fully. So, everything that gets boxed is 100% working and cleaned.

The Process

1. We wrap the item in 2 inches of bubble wrap neatly.

2. We package the accessories and any papers in a small bag.

3. Now we get a box. When selecting a box, we leave 2 inches of space between the wall of the box and all items.

4. When we tape the item, we use 3 strips down the middle and one on each edge.

5. We place packaging around the inside of the box and place the item. We typically void fill using bubble wrap with 1/2 inch bubbles.

7. Lastly, the top of the box gets taped just like the bottom.

8. After taping it, the box does not bulge on top and does not sink in with pressure. The item is also firm in place and you don't hear any movement when shaking the box.

Even though we clearly take pride in our packaging, some of our packages get damaged in transit. If you do receive an item and it isn't working properly, just contact us and we'll arrange for a repair or replacement at no cost.

If you purchased an item that includes the original packaging, it will be boxed inside of another box. This way, no one knows what is in the box, and the manufacturers packaging stays in its original state.

We ship domestically and all over the world. Orders outside the US will be subject to your countries taxes and duties. Most of our items are designed for use in the United States of America and special equipment may be required to operate them.

Most orders ship within 2 business days. Some orders can take up to 2 weeks to ship.

Returns from SpenCertified

Last updated: July 9, 2026

Every piece of equipment we sell has been through our warehouse — opened, inspected, tested, and in many cases restored by hand. We want you to be happy with what shows up at your door, and if something isn't right, we'll make it right.

Here's how returns work.

Returns

You have 30 days from delivery to return most items.

To start a return, sign in to your account at https://shopify.com/16832705/account and submit a return request. If you checked out using a phone number rather than an email address, the link to your order is in the text message we sent when you ordered. You're also welcome to just email us at hello@spencertified.com with your order number.

Either way, please get in touch before shipping anything back, so we know it's coming and can get your refund moving quickly.

A few things to know:

The item should come back in the condition you received it, along with any cables, remotes, or accessories that came with it

There's a 20% restocking fee on returns, and return shipping is on you

Original shipping costs aren't refundable

Please don't send equipment back to the manufacturer — it needs to come to us

Where to send it (once we've confirmed your return):

SpenCertified 456 E Juanita Ave, Suite 8 Mesa, AZ 85204

A note on condition

We inspect every return. If an item comes back damaged, missing parts, or with signs it's been opened up or worked on, we may need to reduce the refund — or in some cases we won't be able to accept the return. We'll always talk to you before we make that call.

What we can't take back

Items sold as-is, for parts, untested, or listed as not working

Repair work we performed on equipment you already owned

Sale and clearance items

If something arrives broken or not as described

This is different, and we handle it differently.

If your item shows up damaged in transit, doesn't power on, or isn't what the listing described, email us within 14 days with a few photos and we'll sort it out. In these cases we cover return shipping and there's no restocking fee. We'll repair it, replace it, or refund you — whichever works best for you.

If something we sold you develops a fault in the first 30 days, get in touch. Vintage equipment can be unpredictable, and a problem that shows up in week three is still a problem we want to hear about. We'll work with you on it.

One honest note: these machines are decades old. Light scratches, small blemishes, a bit of faded lettering — that's part of owning vintage gear, and it's not something we'd consider a defect unless we described the item as being in better shape than it is. We photograph condition carefully for exactly this reason.

Refunds

Once your return arrives and we've had a look at it, we'll email you to confirm we've got it and let you know it's approved.

Refunds go back to your original payment method within 5 business days. After that it's up to your bank — sometimes it takes a few more days for the credit to actually appear on your statement.

If a refund seems to be taking too long: check your account once more, then check with your card company, since processing time on their end varies. If it's been a while and there's still nothing, email us at hello@spencertified.com and we'll chase it down.

Return shipping

Return shipping is the customer's responsibility unless the return is because of a defect or something we got wrong.

Please use a trackable service, and insure it for what the item is worth. We can't refund an item that doesn't reach us, and once it's in the carrier's hands it's out of both our control.

If you're shipping back audio equipment, pack it well. These units are heavy, and the transformers inside can shift and do real damage if the box has room to move. Double-box it if you can. Damage from a poor pack job may affect your refund — not because we want it to, but because we'd be receiving a different item than the one we sent.

Cancelling an order

Changed your mind before it ships? No problem, and no charge — just email us.

If we've already bought the shipping label by the time you reach us, we'll need to pass along that cost.

Customers in the EU and EEA

If you're ordering from the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, or Norway, you have additional rights under EU law. Where anything below differs from the terms above, this section is what applies to you.

You have 14 days to change your mind, for any reason at all.

The clock starts the day your order arrives — or, if your order shipped in more than one piece, the day the last item arrives.

To withdraw, sign in at https://shopify.com/16832705/account and submit a return request, or simply email hello@spencertified.com with your order number and tell us you're withdrawing. (Ordered with a phone number? Your order link is in the text message we sent.) You don't need to explain why. As long as you let us know within the 14 days, you're covered — any clear statement will do.

Then send the item back within 14 days of telling us. Return shipping is your cost.

Your refund covers what you paid for the item and what you paid for standard delivery. (If you chose an express or upgraded shipping option, we refund the standard rate.) We'll process it within 14 days of receiving the item back — or from the day you show us proof you've sent it, whichever comes first. Same payment method, no fees, and no restocking fee.

Sale items are included in this right, and so is everything else in our catalog, with a few exceptions: custom or personalized orders, and repair services performed on equipment you already owned.

One thing to keep in mind: you're welcome to unbox the item, look it over, and power it on — anything you'd do with it in a shop. If it comes back showing wear beyond that, or it's been opened up or modified, we may reduce the refund to reflect the change in its value.

Separately from all of the above, EU and EEA consumers have a legal guarantee that goods match their description. Nothing here limits those rights.

Voltage — international customers, please read

Most of what we sell was built for the North American market and runs on 120V / 60Hz only. Connecting a 120V unit to a 230V supply will destroy it, usually within seconds.

Some of our equipment is voltage-selectable. These units have a switch or a removable jumper — often on the rear panel — that sets them for 120V or 230V operation. Where a unit supports this, we say so in the listing.

If you've bought a voltage-selectable unit, please read this next part carefully:

We ship every unit set to 120V. You must set the selector to 230V before you plug it in for the first time. Powering it on at the wrong setting will damage it exactly as if it had no selector at all.

This is the single most common way an international order gets ruined, and it's entirely preventable. If you're not certain how your unit's selector works, email us before you plug it in and we'll walk you through it.

A separate issue: 50Hz. Voltage and frequency are different things. Turntables and tape decks that use synchronous motors are tied to the 60Hz North American supply and will run at the wrong speed on a 50Hz mains, even at the correct voltage and even with a transformer. A step-down transformer converts voltage, not frequency.

Damage caused by incorrect voltage, or by a voltage selector left in the wrong position, isn't something we're able to cover under our returns policy.

Not sure whether a particular unit will work where you live? Email hello@spencertified.com before you order. We'll open it up, check the selector, and tell you honestly. It takes us five minutes and it saves you an amplifier.

Still have questions?

Email hello@spencertified.com. A real person reads it.
