Fake Food Japan makes and ships handmade food replicas worldwide from Osaka, Japan.

Production time. Every piece is made to order by hand. Production takes 1 week for most products; 2 weeks for Small Size Replicas, Trays, Wall Clocks, Mini Bowls, Handbags and Purses, Smartphone Stands, Bag Charms, and Pass Cases; and 3 to 4 weeks for Life-Size Replicas, counted from the day your payment is confirmed. The transit estimates below begin the day your package leaves Osaka and do not include production time.

Shipping methods and transit times. International orders ship by one of two methods. Airmail is the more economical option and averages 6 to 15 days, though in rare cases it can take longer. Airmail is not insured and does not include tracking. Express Mail Service (EMS) averages 2 to 6 days, is insured against loss or damage up to 20,000 yen, and includes online tracking. EMS cannot deliver to APO or AP addresses, though PO boxes are fine. Orders within Japan are shipped by Yamato Transport（クロネコヤマト）.

Shipping cost. Shipping is calculated at checkout from your destination, the weight of your order, and the method you select, and is charged in Japanese yen.

Recommendation and liability. Because our replicas are delicate handmade pieces, we strongly recommend EMS for its insurance and tracking. Fake Food Japan is not responsible for delays within the destination country, or for the loss or damage of uninsured packages sent by Airmail. If an insured EMS parcel does not arrive, Japan Post allows an inquiry to be opened two months after the shipment date; once the claim is settled we pass on the compensation recovered, up to the EMS limit of 20,000 yen per shipment. Airmail shipments that do not arrive cannot be traced or refunded. Items that arrive damaged are handled separately from lost parcels; see our Refund Policy .

Customs and import taxes. All international shipments are sent on DAP terms (Delivered At Place). Orders may be subject to import VAT, customs duty, clearance charges, or brokerage fees in the destination country. Any such charges are the responsibility of the recipient, are set by local authorities, and are outside our control.

Order cancellations

You may cancel your order at any time before it is dispatched. Once an order has been dispatched it can no longer be cancelled. To cancel, email info@fakefoodjapan.com quoting your order number.

Made-to-order goods

Every item we sell is manufactured individually after your order is received. Nothing is held in stock. For this reason we do not accept returns, exchanges, or refunds for reasons of customer preference, change of mind, or customer error, including ordering the wrong item, the wrong quantity, or the wrong size.

We work to ensure that product information is accurate and complete, that dimensions are stated, and that photographs clearly indicate the shape and colour of each item. Please review these before ordering.

Damaged, defective, or incorrect goods

Our remedy in these cases is a refund. We do not offer replacements. You do not need to return the item, and you may keep it.

Goods damaged in transit

This applies to orders shipped by EMS and, within Japan, by Yamato Transport. Both are covered by carrier compensation, which is what makes a claim possible. Airmail is not insured, and we are unable to refund damage to an Airmail shipment. If protection against transit damage matters to you, please select EMS at checkout.

Notify us at info@fakefoodjapan.com within seven (7) days of receiving the goods, attaching photographs of the damage and quoting your order number. Please keep the original packaging, as the carrier may need to inspect it.

Once the claim is approved, we refund the order amount less (1) the payment processing fees charged to us at the time the order was placed and (2) the outbound shipping cost charged to us by the carrier.

Defective or incorrect goods

If an item arrives with a manufacturing defect, or is not the item you ordered, the fault is ours rather than the carrier's and no shipping method condition applies. Notify us at info@fakefoodjapan.com within seven (7) days of receiving the goods, attaching photographs and quoting your order number. Once confirmed, we refund in full the amount you paid for that item, including the shipping charged on it.

Refund timing

Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 14 days of approval.

Carrier claims

Some costs may be recoverable from the carrier once you have reported the damage to the delivery company handling your shipment. Fake Food Japan will report the same claim to the EMS office in Japan. EMS compensation is limited to 20,000 yen per shipment.

Lost parcels

Airmail is not insured and does not include tracking. We are unable to trace, refund, or replace an Airmail shipment that does not arrive.

EMS shipments are insured and tracked. If an EMS parcel does not arrive, contact us at info@fakefoodjapan.com as soon as possible, quoting your order number. Japan Post allows an inquiry to be opened two months after the shipment date, so there is a waiting period before the claim can begin. We file the claim with the EMS office in Japan. Once the claim is settled, we pass on to you the compensation recovered, which may include the shipping you paid. EMS compensation is limited to 20,000 yen per shipment, and we are unable to refund any amount above what the claim pays out.

Customs fees and refused shipments

All international shipments are sent on DAP terms (Delivered At Place). The recipient is responsible for paying any import VAT, customs duty, clearance charge, or brokerage fee imposed by the destination country, and for providing any documents customs requires.

If a package is returned to us because the recipient declined to pay those charges, or did not provide the required documents:

•For orders containing a life-size replica, no refund is issued.

•For orders containing only accessories such as keychains, magnets, and similar items, we refund the order amount less (1) the payment processing fees charged at the time of the order, (2) the outbound shipping cost charged to us by the carrier, and (3) the return shipping cost charged to us when the package came back.

Right of Withdrawal (Customers in the EU and EEA)

If you are a consumer in the European Union or the European Economic Area, you have the right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days without giving any reason. These rights apply to consumers in the EU and EEA and take precedence over the general cancellation and return terms above wherever they differ.

The withdrawal period expires 14 days from the day you, or a third party you name other than the carrier, take physical possession of the goods. If your order arrives in several shipments, the period runs from the day you receive the final item.

To exercise this right, use the withdrawal function on our website, or tell us of your decision by a clear statement sent to info@fakefoodjapan.com . You may use the model withdrawal form, but you are not required to. To meet the deadline, it is enough to send your communication before the 14-day period ends.

If you withdraw, we will refund all payments received from you, including the standard delivery cost, no later than 14 days from the day we are informed of your decision. We may withhold the refund until we have received the goods back, or until you provide proof that you have sent them, whichever comes first. We refund using the same payment method you used to order, at no extra charge to you.

You must send the goods back without undue delay and no later than 14 days from the day you notify us. You bear the direct cost of return shipping. You are responsible for any reduced value of the goods resulting from handling beyond what is needed to establish their nature, characteristics, and condition.

Exception for made-to-order and personalised items. The right of withdrawal does not apply to goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised. Our custom order commissions, produced to an individual customer's brief, are made to your specifications and are not eligible for the right of withdrawal. Our standard catalogue products are eligible for withdrawal as set out above, even though each piece is produced after you order.

Custom orders

Custom commissions are quoted individually and are not purchased through the online store checkout. Pricing, production time, payment terms, and shipping are agreed in writing before work begins. Custom commissions are made to your specifications and are not returnable, except where the EU and EEA exception above does not apply to them.
