Delivery from Roots to Fruits Nursery

How does my order ship?

We ship from our location in Gays Mills, Wisconsin, via UPS (for distances farther than 200 miles) and SpeeDee Delivery service from March through June on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. For local container delivery, a Roots to Fruits Nursery employee will contact you to schedule. Please note that most of our local container deliveries take place in May.

Tell me about shipping.

Our main shipping season runs from Mid-March through early June. We ship in the order the orders were received and by zone. For Spring Shipping, we receive orders in the fall prior to and into the first quarter. We begin shipping the orders received in Mid-March, with the fall orders shipping first then next through February. Orders placed in March and April may take up to 14 days or more. Our plants and trees are kept in our coolers to keep them healthy and dormant.

For an additional fee and with a minimum of 48 hours' notice, we do offer fast, expedited shipping. Pricing is based on order contents and location. Contact our shipping department for a quote.

Can I delay my shipment until later?

Yes! Please mention this in the notes section of your order or give us a call at 608.735.6000 to delay your order. You can also ask us to ship on a specific date, as long as it's a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. Thank you for understanding, we are a family-owned business, and the more advance notice you can provide, the better we can manage the successful outcome of your request.

Can I change my shipping date once my order is placed? Because we are working with living plants and trees that require specific care for our Monday–Wednesday shipping window, we are unable to change ship dates once an order is finalized . If a change of date is truly vital, please contact us immediately, and we will do our absolute best to assist you.

Can I visit the nursery to pick up my order?

Yes! You are invited to visit our retail location and sister orchard, 1913 Orchards & Cider House, to pick up your order. That way, you can meet us, ask questions about planting, and explore our vast inventory.

You can learn more about Our Guarantees here.

Returns from Roots to Fruits Nursery

Roots to Fruits | GuaranteesFrom our nursery to your door, we grow, nurture, and handle your specially chosen plants and trees with care. We want your growing experience to be as stress-free as a sunny afternoon in the orchard. To make sure your plants and trees thrive from the moment your purchase leaves our nursery to the moment you pick your first fruit, we offer two distinct promises:

Road to Roots We take great care to package your products for shipment so they arrive in perfect condition. We ask that you inspect your shipment immediately upon arrival. Report issues to us within 48 hours of receiving your order if it arrived damaged, is missing items, or contains unsatisfactory products.

Please note that some plants and trees are shipped in a dormant state (without leaves). This is normal and helps the plant survive the transition. If you are unsure if a plant is healthy, please perform a scratch test or contact us for guidance.

Happy Harvest Because thriving plants are a partnership between our quality and your environment, we offer this limited growing guarantee to help you plant with confidence. Reach out to us if your plant or tree shows no signs of growth or leaf development within 30 days of purchase or receipt. Trees and plants installed through our Orchard Services are also fully covered by this guarantee.

Note on Labor: While the replacement plant or tree is covered under our guarantee, a supplemental labor fee may apply for the removal and re-installation of the new specimen.

Conditions & Exclusions

In-Ground Only: Plants must be planted in the ground (not left in pots) to qualify. It is imperative that your tree be planted within 48-72 hours of receipt.

Excluded Damage: We cannot cover damage caused by environmental factors such as drought, overwatering, extreme weather, or animals.

Protect Your Investment: Deer and rabbits love fresh bark and buds, and can destroy a young tree overnight. We highly recommend installing trunk guards or fencing to prevent this fatal damage.

Scope: Applies only to plants that fail to leaf out and/or do not pass the “scratch test.” Please note that each plant variety has a specific growth rate. Some are much slower to awaken, for example. This is when the scratch test can help identify the plant’s health.

Next Steps

Complete and submit our Plant Warranty Claim Form on the Roots to Fruits website. Once we receive your form and our team has verified the concerns, we offer one of the following solutions at no additional cost to you:

One-Time Replacement: We will ship a replacement for the damaged or missing item immediately (subject to availability).

Merchandise Credit: If the item is out of stock, we can issue a credit to your account (valid through December 31 of the year of purchase).
