We offer Flat Rate Shipping on all orders in Australia. We also offer FREE in-store pickup at any of our Book Grocer stores around Australia.

Important note about stock levels in our stores: if our website says a book is "In stock at our Tullamarine warehouse" that means if you want to collect it from another store we need to send it into your chosen store for pickup once you have ordered it. It is not in stock in our stores until that happens.

If you would like to ship items to more than one address, please place separate orders for these items.

We charge in the currency of your location.

Shipping times - Australia:

We process orders Monday to Friday and will send your order within 1-2 business days and ship with either Australia Post or Direct Freight. Smaller orders or PO Box/Parcel Lockers will be sent with Australia Post Standard Post and larger orders will be sent with our courier Direct Freight and their standard delivery times will apply.

Express Post/Courier orders need to be placed before 8:00am (AEST) for order to be shipped out on the same day. Any orders after this time will be shipped out the next business day. Smaller orders or PO Box/Parcel Lockers will be sent with Australia Post Express Post and larger orders will be sent with our courier Direct Freight Express and their standard delivery times will apply.

Shipping times - New Zealand: We ship directly to NZ each weekday using Australia Post International Standard and their standard delivery times will apply.

Rest of the World: We also ship with Australia Post International Standard each weekday to the US, Canada, the UK, EU and Singapore. Shipping is one flat rate for orders weighing up to 2kg, or a higher flat rate if your cart contains our Book Boxes or a larger amount of books. S tandard delivery times will apply.

*Because of customs and duty requirements, there are limitations on order value if shipping to the UK (GBP135) and the EU (EUR150). This amount excludes shipping fees.

If you have more than this amount in your cart, you will see the message: “Items in the cart do not meet price or weight requirements to qualify for shipping. Update your cart and try again.”

You will then need to place separate orders that add up to less than this amount.

In-Store Pickup

We offer free instore pickup from any of our Book Grocer stores . Your chosen store will get in touch with you by email or SMS to let you know your book has arrived.

We deliver customer orders to our stores on a regular but somewhat unpredictable schedule. Our warehouse is based in Melbourne, so your order is likely to arrive at your selected Melbourne store earlier than if you select an interstate in-store pickup option.

Pickup from our Bourke, Spencer and Northcote stores could take up to 1 week to receive your order. We usually deliver on a Wednesday to these stores.

Pickup from our Tullamarine Warehouse your order will be ready the same or next business day.

* Payment must be received at the time of purchase, before we can transfer your order to a store.

** In-Store Pickup orders will be refunded and restocked after 60 days if your order is not collected and we have not been able to contact you.

Please inspect your order when you receive it and contact us at help@bookgrocer.com within 30 days if there is a problem with your order as outlined below.

If you have received items that are damaged or incorrect please send us some photographs of the damage and we'll assess this for a refund.

If you receive a Book Box with duplicate titles in it we will refund you the value of one of the duplicates. The refund is calculated as a proportion of the number of books in the box.

We offer change of mind refunds in certain situations. Please get in touch at help@bookgrocer.com to let us know the circumstances of your request and we will do our best to help.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you instructions on how and where to send your package back to us. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Please note: If an item you ordered is unavailable we will refund this item and send the rest of your order. We aim to process orders as fast as possible, so it may have already shipped before you receive the refund notification email.

Remainder Marks - Our books are remainders which means that they occasionally have a small mark at the base of the book. This is one reason our prices are so low and this is clearly disclosed on each product page.

Mystery Boxes - We do our best to ensure that our Mystery Boxes contain books selected from a wide range of categories. There may be books you are not interested in, simply because the box contains books from many categories. We generally ask that you purchase a Mystery Box only if you are prepared to accept this; we have other Book Boxes with the contents listed which are better for those who prefer certainty about what they are getting!

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.

Refunds are processed on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take a few days for the funds to reappear in your account or credit card.
